Review content:
We actually didn't stay to eat, as we were meeting family elsewhere for a later dinner. Pity, as the panini-style sandwiches did look really good. Not knowing for sure about the food, however, made it tough to want to rate the establishment at any higher than 3 stars.
The beer I can vouch for though and it was superb. In fact, it may be some of my favorite. Given that I'm picky AND there are lots of good beers from which to choose around the Northwest, this is quite a feat. Quick example - I ordered an IPA, a style of beer my husband typically does not care for and he ordered a porter, a style which is usually not my favorite. Guess what - we both REALLY liked each other's beers a lot; in fact, we like them nearly as well as the ones we'd ordered for ourselves. Now that is quite an accomplishment. Brewer Mike McQuary is to be commended.
The bookstore part of Skye Book and Brew is a few tables and a full wall (two story w/ catwalk) of shelves holding both new and used books. It was a cheap $1 for the used copy of one of the Goosebumps series that our son picked out so that he could read quietly while sipping on his SB&B brewed rootbeer and leave us to our adult beer-thirty time in peace.
The other great thing is that they have free wi-fi. Anybody can sip coffee or tea while surfing the internet but imagine sipping a beer instead... how cool is that?!
Sure, Dayton isn't exactly on a lot of people's way TO anyplace... but if you're near Walla Walla and have a hankering to take a break from the wine for some good beer or are coming back from a day in the Blue Mountains, Skye Book and Brew is certainly worth checking out.
