Many years ago, when I had the pleasure of first learning about Kirkwood Mobile Park, it was a pit stop for Winter travelers, and senior citizens. The trailers were quietly nestled in between stately oaks, swaying pines and blankets of daffodils and tulips. No pets were allowed, with the exception of a single housecat per unit, and the no dog/no children rule was strictly enforced. Over the years, most of the original tenants have either passed away or moved to Southern States, and with an influx of "shady" characters with loud engines, barking dogs, and ferral cats have moved in. We don't want this to become the Dixie Hotel of Mobile Home parks. The original owners sold out to out of town buyers, who aren't around to see this former little slice of heaven become the stage and scene for a really bad movie script. For some reason the park smells highly of mothballs..maybe it's to mask the smell of the rotting corpse that was found behind the Del Motel just over the hill.
