Please read this if you are considering going to The Center!
I went to The Center last year for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, I decided to stay 2 additions weeks to continue growing and learning.
I didn't know what to expect. On my first day, getting out of my car I met a 6'8" guy who was also unloading his bags. Together we walked inside, went through the orientation, and began our journey. Today, that guy is one of my closest friends.
On the first day I attended a men's class. I was comforted to meet men who were surgeons, business owners, former college athletes, engineers, salesmen, etc. During our first class the guys opened up, but only if they wanted to, and shared their struggles. I was so comforted to find men who were "highly successful" in the eyes of the world, but who had real struggles just like me.
My roommate turned out to be a surgeon. We had a good time getting to know each other and going through the Center. We shared things we were learning and became good friends.
Over 6 weeks I learned a lot of helpful tools. Thought record/feelings journal...I have used that tool for 17 months and it has significantly helped me grieve out my pain and slowly change my thoughts.
I also learned about "living in the moment without judgement"...something I had never heard before. This has proven to be a great tool reducing anxiety in my life.
Everyone who goes to The Center gets a team of professionals that are selected to meet their individuals goals and needs. My team was very good. They worked together to figure out what I was dealing with and the best treatment to help me. My life has changed dramatically since my first day. I’m not “fixed” or “perfect” but I have grieved out a lot of my pain, slowly changed my thinking, started cooking and eating better, lost weight, reduced my anxiety. During my 6 weeks I saw a few people who didn’t like it, but 95-97% loved it and glad to be there. I would highly recommend anyone who is considering it. GO TO THE CENTER!
