We have used Pampered Pets for grooming our Mini Schnauzer on a number of occasions in the past couple years and we've been happy, but after yesterday, we will not be going back! Yesterday morning, my husband dropped her off between 8 and 8:30 am for her grooming appointment. In the past, we have always gotten a call within 2 hours or so, that she was finished. My husband got a call at 9:24 am to tell him that "Heidi had a sore on her shoulder that looked like it was healing but it has opened up". They were calling "just to let us know so that we didn't think it happened there". I thought that was strange because we hadn't seen any sores on her. Her fur had gotten long and was matted and it had been about 3 months since her last grooming, so I thought maybe she somehow scratched herself and we missed seeing it. Basically, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. By 2:30 pm, my husband still had not received a call that she was ready to be picked up, which again was strange. I called them at 2:30 to check on her and, by strange coincidence, she was "just getting finished up". I let my husband know and he went to pick her up. I got home from work a short time later and that "sore" was about an inch and a half gash on the front of her shoulder and I can tell you, it was definitely NOT there when she was dropped off. I also don't know what went on in the span of time that they "noticed the sore" at 9:30 am, which is when I figure she was groomed and 2:30 pm when I called and she was miraculously "just getting finished up". My husband didn't bother addressing it with them, because they had already set the stage to deny that it happened there, so it would have been pointless. A trip to our vet resulted in 8 staples and a round of antibiotics.
