I had my car in the shop for a heater core replacement. The shop was booked solid but I was told that if i could leave it for a couple of days and if necessary the owner Kevin would fix it after hours. I got the car back when promised and was told that they had been able to work it in between their other appointments. Two hours after picking up the car the engine died and the battery was dead. It was after hours on a Friday night but I called Oswald's in hopes of reaching someone. I got their answering machine but got a callback from Kevin almost immediately. He was still at the shop and drove across town to where I was broke down. Kevin was jovial and didn't seem put out in the least. In his inspection Kevin determined that the alternator wasn't charging. He offered to have my car towed to the shop and stated that he would get it fixed that night even if it took him till midnight. I told him that I couldn't afford to pay another repair bill after just having the heater core replaced. Kevin said, "The important thing is that we get you back on the road. We'll work that out later." While the car wad being towed to his shop Kevin stopped at a parts store and bought all the parts he thought he could possibly need. We got a call within an hour. Kevin had discovered that a connection to the alternator had been missed by his mechanic when reinstalling. I have been taking my cars to Oswald's for five years this is the first time there has been a mistake. To make a mistake is human its how you deal with mistakes that shows character. Kevin could have told me it was the alternator and charged me for another repair. I've been to many shops in the past that probably would have done just that. But not Oswald's! Kevin made no excuses he told us exactly what happened. He made it right and tried to minimize our inconvenience. This is a confirmation of what I've come to expect from Oswald's. They are not allways the cheapest but when they give you a quote with a range depending on what they find. They don't just charge the high end because they can. They do what is needed in a quality manner but do not do unnecessary work. As long as I am in Idaho Falls I won't have my repairs done anywhete else.
