Watch out! Ready Rooter/Chapman Plumbing has a company policy to take advantage of ill-informed customers. These are not the people you want on your side.f\r When I called Ready Rooter/Chapman Plumbing, I prefaced everything by telling the plumber that I was a first-time home owner who had lived in apartments her whole life, and had never even hired a plumber. He assured me that I needn't worry, he was just going to send a camera down the waste water pipe to see what was going on, and then we'd take it from there. I went back inside, and he started working on his task, and once he got the camera into the pipe, I came back outside to talk to him. He held up the monitor for me for a moment and talked in extremely vague and catastrophic terms about roots and blockages and the sewer main- giving no measurements, no details, no depths- and how incredibly difficult and expensive it was going to be to excavate our hillside. By the time he stopped talking, I probably looked like a deer in the headlights. Then he took my $264 check for sending the sewer cam down, and left.\r When I started gathering the names of plumbing and excavation contractors to get estimates from, every one of them said ""Well, first I'll need to see the footage from that sewer cam before I can begin an estimate..."" So I called the plumber from Ready Rooter/Chapman back, and told him I needed the footage from the sewer camera. He first told me that I didn't need it, because I saw the monitor myself, but eventually admitted that he had not recorded the footage. When I asked him why not, he told me that he could have recorded it and put it on a flash drive for me for only $10 additional, but that he didn't think mention it. I told him that having the sewer scoped without any recording was pretty useless to me, and I needed him to return and re-do it, with recorded footage this time. He grumbled about that for a while, but when pressed, agreed that he would return and do it. He didn't however, and instead stopped answering my calls.\r So I called the main number, and explained the situation to the person who answered the phone. She objected to the idea that he should return to scope the sewer again without charge, saying ""well, he could have recorded it when he was there for only $10 more..."" and I said ""Yes, but he didn't TELL me that!"" and she said ""Well, no, we generally don't tell people.""\r After a week or two of the plumber and the manager from Ready Rooter/Chapman Plumbing ignoring my phone calls, I had to hire another company [Sewer Optics- and they did an excellent and thorough job!] to send a sewer camera down, this time with recorded footage, so that we could move forward with the project. I sent a registered letter to the owner of the company, multiple phone calls and emails to Anthony, the manager, and was 100% ignored until I threatened to show up at his office at 7:30 a.m. and complain in person. Only then did he take my call, and he essentially doubled down on the company policy: yes, maybe they ought to have told me that for only $10 they could have given me recorded footage, but that it was too bad for me that I didn't think to ask that, and they would not refund any of my money.\r And THAT is the kind of customer care you can expect from Ready Rooter/Chapman Plumbing!
