My wife joined Curves prior to our wedding to reduce some wedding planning stress--this location was one of the first open in the area. I picked her up various times after her workout (we only had one car at the time!) and investigated this popular workout hangout that draws in the local ladies. Curves is a workout system that has recently expanded its services to diet and exercise planning. The equipment is placed in a circle in one large room. Between each of the workout stations is a square pad on which women walk or jog in place between each station. The Curves members are very friendly and talkative with one another. Throughout the 30 minute workout, the members circulate through this equipment circuit. First-time members are guided by the employees in order to learn how to work the machines to their comfort levels. The Curves community is like a family of sorts--the women encourage one another. There are ways to earn a Curves Buck which can be used to purchase Curves merchandise or defray other costs. Motivational music plays in the background and at systematic intervals, a voice instructs the women working out to check their pulses. Safety while working out is a priortity here. Curves is open at very specific times and is not open on Sundays or Saturday afternoons. Get a schedule if you plan on joining! PROS: Women-centered; focus on safety CONS: Small place
