Review content:
We needed an inexpensive motel room for the first night of a longer visit to West Des Moines, and this location fit the bill perfectly. Easy access from I-80. I had checked out the map beforehand, so the fact that the motel is tucked away behind a Marriott and a Candlewood Suites wasn't a problem. We didn't arrive until 3:30am local time, and I was a little worried what we might find at that hour. But all my fears were allayed the moment I entered the lobby. It had the most delightful smell (on par with the restrooms at Denver International Airport, that smell so good that you go in them even if you don't have to use the facilities). The young lady at the front desk was a little bleary-eyed, but very personable and helpful. The room had the same fresh scent as the lobby, and though cozy, was perfectly adequate. The bathroom was clean and fully stocked, though the institutional towels were a little on the thin side. The triangular bath tub was a novelty, and if I was a, um, person of girth, I probably wouldn't have liked how the shower head was in the most acute angle. But the water pressure was satisfactory, the hot water plentiful. The sink had a water-saver sort of faucet, nice for the environmentally conscious. The bed was comfortable, as was the climate control. Our room was on the back side of the motel, nestled up against the freeway, but though I noticed some of the traffic noise when I first laid down, it didn't interfere with sleep. All in all, a good room at a good price, and I'll probably stay here again in four weeks when we come for another visit.
