Dipple's "underground specialist" came out on Tuesday to check on underground pipe that had broken. Couldn't get back until Thursday. Meanwhile we turned down other plumbers we had checked with because we thought we had found the best. We explained that the pipe had broken because it was schedule 10 but was supposed to be schedule 40. We knew because we had had trouble with that same pipe before. We wanted the whole pipe replaced and made that clear on Tuesday on the phone and during the initial visit. The "underground specialist" showed up complaining that he was behind because he had just come back from vacation, and he didn't even bring the equipment he needed to dig up the whole pipe. After he hand dug a hole to the point where it was leaking, we realized he intended to leave the defective pipe in place and just cut out and replace a small section, which was not what needed to be done so that we wouldn't have trouble with that same pipe a third time. When my husband told him that was not what we wanted, he said he didn't have time for that and left us with our leaky pipe and a hole in the ground. This is the fourth day we have been without water, we waited for Dipple to do the work because we thought they were the best, and we still don't have water. We called Mr. Rooter and they are outside digging up our pipe now, which is what needed to be done in the first place. Do yourself a favor and call anyone other than Dipple.
RESPONSE FROM Dipple Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air:
We were called out to the Riddle’s home on July 28, 2015 for a busted water line. We have a technician that specializes in underground repairs and that is who we sent to the home. Upon arrival he was able to hand dig to the leak. The water line that we are talking about is not a short water line it is a ½ mile long. We gave Mr. Riddle the option to repair the leak immediately, which would have only taken about an hour, or replace the entire pipe. Mr. Riddle wanted us to use a backhoe and just start digging up the line to see where it connected to schedule 40 piping. In our professional opinion this was not the correct way to handle the repair. The area Mr. Riddle wanted us to use a backhoe to dig up housed 2 water lines and a 220V power line. Since we did not agree with what Mr. Riddle was asking us to do we declined to do work for him. We did not charge Mr. Riddle any fees for our diagnosis and decided to part ways. Dipple Plumbing, Inc. has been in business for 35 years we have an excellent reputation in the upstate and we cannot jeopardize our quality workmanship
