On Wed. May 2, Rich, the company estimator, came to my coop apt. to give me the price of repairing a tilt window in the bedroom. He gave me a written estimate for the total replacement of pivot and balance ($80x2= $160 + tax) He suggested we consider doing all 11 windows ($64x2=$128+tax) for $1400. He stated that he would be able to do the work on the next day, either all for $1400 or try one for $160. Thurs. was inconvenient, so I called to make an appt. for next week to do one window first and then consider doing all 11, as suggested. I was told that they were waiting for the appraisal. Finally the appraisal was sent to me on May 9 ($246 for one and 1,856 for 11) I asked what is the reason for the difference and was first told that it was the tax, which I pointed out was incorrect, then told that the estimator forgot to include the pivots. I faxed my written estimate, showing the inclusion of balance and pivots. Roberta told me that Rich would call me that day. He did not
