Review content:
I contacted AAA to come and help me diagnose an electrical issue with my upstairs hallway in an older-model home (built in the 1960s). They sent Michael C. out within just a few days, and he even showed up early.
Upon arrival, I learned that AAA's billing was "job-based", and the fee for diagnosing the issue would be $338.00 ("Level 1 Diagnosis"). I balked a little bit given that I thought it couldn't be $338-complicated, but gave the approval to go ahead and investigate. Mike was very courteous throughout and explained exactly what he would be doing.
Less than an hour later, Mike had determined it was a tripped GFCI outlet in the bathroom, and upon resetting it, the rest of the circuit began working again. It was a relief to know that it was only an outlet issue and not a wiring or other panel/circuit issue.
While I sincerely appreciated the timely, courteous and professional service, in retrospect, I wish I had done a bit more of my own investigation into the issues. I know Mike did not set the service rate for the work performed, but, in this homeowner's opinion, it was not worth the $338 fee.
Still, I rate AAA's timeliness, courtesy and professionalism very highly, and would recommend their service (if not their costs) to anyone looking to have electrical work performed.
