Bring your own security.\r

On April 20, 2015, I was intimidated by a neighbor with firearms (both rifle and side-arm), right in front of Security. A violation of RCW 9.41.270 which should have been prosecuted. Despite display of a firearm on Marina property being a violation of the Port of Everett policy, only a letter was written. That is, Port of Everett doesn't sufficiently enforce their own policies.\r
\r
My boat was subsequently vandalized where varnish was poured into the scuppers - about $2500.00 in damage - and Everett Police could do nothing as there was no video evidence. As a result, my boat sits in dry storage where I am unable to use it, unable to work on it, yet I'm having to pay monthly until I can find another slip, far from the gun nut who intimidated me becomes available.\r

You'll want Video Security with a 24/7 cellular to upload pics (don't trust wifi). There's vandalism and theft - police can do nothing without video evidence.\r
\r
Port of Everett Security are not sworn peace officers, they do not have arresting authority. They do have a large area to cover. Everett Police are miles away and even in an emergency can take 45 min to over an hour to show up.\r
\r
Key FOBs are not individually id'd and they don't ask people who buy them to turn them back in, so access to your boat (and the showers) goes to whoever has a FOB, which includes EVERYONE who has ever purchased a FOB for $10.\r
\r
Port of Everett Commission were unconcerned, referring me to staff. They have million dollar deals with ecological disaster cleanup, large construction, logging, etc.. security for boaters paying slip fees are pretty low on their priority. They remind me of the California Harbormaster's Association - if you're a business around a harbor, a festival organizer, or developer, you're welcomed to join; if you're a boater, not so much.\r
\r
Had the Security personnel during the initial incident been actual Law Enforcement, none of this would have happened.
