Review content:
I had an appointment to have a root-canal performed on a tooth which I had already received a root canal from a different dentist approximately 4 years earlier. The problem was that the tooth was giving me pain. When I arrived for my re-canal today, I was told that they were unsure whether or not my insurance would provide coverage for treating the same tooth, since it had been only 4 years. I was given the option of going ahead and having the root canal done, and risk no insurance coverage (meaning I would have to pay all $939 myself), or requesting an estimate be sent to the insurance company to see what they would cover firsts. I was told that process of insurance estimating could take up to two weeks. My opinion is that no one in their right mind would go ahead and have it done on a whim, so my gripe is that they could have called me and we could have discussed all of this over the phone instead of me taking time off of work. Although I applaud them for discussing this with me BEFORE doing the re-canal, I would have greatly appreciated it if they had called, saving me time and gas. Not to mention that the dentist had me scheduled, so what did he do with this time slot now available.....I will never know. I have been a satisfied client for many years and have always been satisfied by my dental hygienist. My only gripe is that this was a waste of my time today.
