Fox River Resort is one of the best vacation spots near Joliet, IL. There is more things to do here than at the lodge at Starved Rock in Utica which is about a half hour away with great hiking trails. I think it all depends on the visitors to determine what they want to do with their time. We enjoy bike riding, swimming in the indoor pool, volleyball, playground, camping, golfing, playing the scheduled kids games, free WiFi internet access in the restaurant, and meeting new people. There is also a fishing lake and a few boats that can be rented for free. The staff has been wonderful! If you see something unusual, they act upon it promtly. It is my understanding that they are going to fix the electric and sewer issues in the campgrounds before the 2010 camping season.
