Review content:
I've passed by Assaggio nearly every morning as I walk to my office, and think to myself, "I need to go there soon." How I kicked myself that I hadn't been sooner. I grew up as an Army brat and lived in Italy for several years. I've longed for an authentic Italian dining experience - not just wonderful food, but fun, attentive service as well.
The owner roams the restaurant mingling with the tables. Not in an overbearing, managerial "...is everything alright" way, but in a truly concerned that you're enjoying your meal context. The servers are amazing, and seem to be one step ahead of the game at all times. And then there's the food. The wonderful, succulent food. I had the veal (Osso Buco) and my girlfriend enjoyed the Pochetta. Both meals were prepared to perfection, and presented beautifully. Add to it the price is comparable to what one would pay at a nation chain steak house, and the total package is set.
