Okay, the Denver Health Medical Center, also nick-named as the ""Gun and Knife Club"", has earned its name;unless you're on the brink of death, or TRULY have a medical emergency, use a different ""urgent clinic"" etc. I certainly didn't think it was for me, I was a snoddy 38 year old yuppie when I arrived at ""The Gun and Knife Club""/MASH?Let's just say that you're innocently crossing Wash Park; I wasn't watching my back as I left the Pub. I was assaulted from behind, by a complete stranger!! He beat me into oblivion, r__ed, strangled, robbed and left me for dead. The following day I contracted what's known as the ""flesh eating disease"", or Strep ""Group A-invasive"", rare-and lethal. Still ""snoody"", YET in the condition I was in, I also knew THIS was the place to be!!!! The disease spread quickly ( you catch it from dirt/sand, and other means), carries aprox: 70% morbidity rate in 72 hrs.....or so I was told/read) the staff was right on it, I was in surgery in ""no-time"", when I had survived, only to find out that I pretty much didn't make it, and it was a miracle, I finally broke down in tears, realizing that an outstanding team of medical students, along with their mentors, had saved my life!! -highly unlikely if I had arrived at my ""private insurance hospital"". I will admit that these people are heroes, but they're NOT in charge of room service, or the homeless that sometimes ask if they can take a shower in your room etc, never mind changing bed tray's on my 79 yr old roomate, since once you survive, service IS NOT the emphasis, the janitorial service is lazy/unsanitary, etc. It was frustrating waiting for my ""closing"" surgeries. Many others, ""triage""-including police officers, firemen, were on the do or die list-(they didn't argue),you get ""bumped"" off the surgery schedule for days as more casulties are choppered, driven or simply carried in. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I owe them my life!! Don't go there if you have a runny nose, or the flu, OK?Best wishes Pros: They'll save your LIFE!(or try their BEST). Highly intelligent staff+expertise Cons: It's NOT a ""spa"", the walk in clinic WILL take 4-5 hrs, and so will the WR...
