I looked up online what it would take to both buy and replace my fuel pump housing with all that is attached. Two separate people said it could be done by a beginner with no experience of any kind in an hour and a half. it said a professional could do it in 45 minutes. Obviously at a full blown shop that charges $125 per hour you would figure they are professionals. The shop charges an hour for diagnostic. The diagnostic was quite simple since I told them it was definitely fuel related. so bottom line....initially the cost was almost $1200. Parts 568 or so. I found it online for half that. Of course my car was already towed there......they had me over a barrel as they say and I had to calculate that into my decision. I had had the mechanic at his own shop work on my car before. when I balked at the massive price for a simple fuel pump housing that has the easiest acces in all cars on earth practically....they quickly gave me a discount of $100 and did not charge the $22 for purring my oil filter on and putting in my oil (already purchased) I appreciate that fact but the parts were actually slightly higher than they had quoted and it was to say the least ANNOYING having a line item of ""miscellaneous" stuff. like zip ties and bolts and crap. I mean at $125 an hour and massively high parts costs.....I think that $20 item (never mentioned to me on the phone should have been eliminated. I felt sort of like.....gee we gave you a discount so you should be happy. Well I am sure they did a good job but in the cost a couple extra things that brought it right back to the high price. I felt like I paid the price rather than have to tow it again. ..... The service people were very professional and courteous though. Tehy found a $20 bill in my car and it was there when I got my car. These are my honest opinions. It was in ritzy ville in Bellevue....so I guess I should have expected it to be high end.
