Review content:
I've no doubts about Dr. Cyr's veterinary abilities and I love her staff. But, she has trouble listening to and abiding by her patient's owner's wishes. Last year I did not want a dozen different vaccinations but I felt she bullied me into it. As it was my dog's first year, I gave in. This year I VERY clearly stated for the chart when I made an appt., I only wanted two shots. My dog also had a skin problem that Dr. Cyr decided to treat with antibiotics, antihistamine, & prescription shampoo. Saying he had a compromised immune system, she was only going to administer two vaccines. We did not at that time discuss any others. I agreed she could administer just the two. Reviewing the papers when I got home, I discovered Dr. Cyr had administered SIX! I only authorized two. In addition, the prescription shampoo was six months expired! The final insult? Over $300 for a regular exam, six shots & 4 meds! Tonight we returned for a follow-up for his skin and if cleared, ONE additional vaccination. Right off the bat I was asked if we were ready for TWO more shots. She hadn't even checked to see if his skin had healed up yet. I stated that no, we would be getting any additional vaccinations elsewhere. I said I wasn't happy that she had given my dog shots I explicitly had not authorized. She immediately started to argue that we had discussed all shots but I assured her we had not. If we had we, we both would have remembered the ensuing argument. But we never got that far. She jumped up, gave me the ""talk to the hand"", I'm done and told me to leave and not come back. In summary, not only did Dr. Cyr violate my trust two weeks ago (and charge me handsomely for the priviledge), but tonight I believe she acted unethically in refusing to at least examine my dog who was right in the middle of drug therapy she had prescribed. Whether we agreed or not, I kept my appt. for the welfare of my pet, something Dr. Cyr demonstrated a complete lack of concern for because I dared to question her about being dishonest and slipping FOUR additional shots into my dog against my wishes. If you want a vet who will listen to you and care about your concerns and wishes, Kanyons Golden/Dr. Cyr is not the place!
