Review content:
I first saw Dr. DeFranco in Hueytown, Al several years ago after I had undergone two lower back surgeries over a two year period and continued to suffer with low back and sciatica leg pain. Prior to visiting his office I had gotten to the point whereby I needed to take 4-5 lortabs just to get through the day. It was not until my doctor decided I had undergone enough lumbar epidural blocks and was going to reduce my lortab consumption that I finally decided to give Dr. DeFranco's office a call. His staff managed to get me an appointment the very same day I called. I brought in all my old MRI's and medical records. He first personally meet with me and we reviewed my records together and then he asked me a lot of questions all the way back all the way back to when I first injured my back, all the injunctions and surgeries. He took a couple other xrays then examined my back and spine. I didn't know that I had lost feeling in my right leg and could hardly stand on my heels until he examined me. He told me I had a very degenerative spine but would like to try a 2-3 week trial of cox flexion-distraction chiropractic therapy. He said if I got worse or did not make at least 50% reduction of pain he would stop care. Well, I had nothing to lose, so I encouraged him to get started. I could not believe how relaxing and comfortable my first treatment felt, in fact I feel asleep. It felt like he took a 1000lbs off my back after the first visit. The evening after my first treatment, he even called my home to check on me! In six weeks I was off the loratabs and was almost pain free. He gave me life back to where I can exercise without pain and travel again. I had lousy HMO insurance that maybe covered 50% of my care. My last visit was almost 5 years ago and I only have to take an occasional aleve for pain relief. Even though I have moved down to the beach, I still send all my friends and family to him. He has a clean modern building with friendly professional staff and I would not recommend anyone else.
