Businiess name:  Kumon

Review content:
My husband and I are very dissatisfied with Kumon Math and Reading in Howell New Jersey. We had been looking to find help in the Howell area for our son who had finished elementary school and was moving to middle school. After searching the internet for learning centers we decided on the Kumon Math and Reading learning center in Howell New Jersey to avoid a long commute. We met with the Kumon center owner Connie Schmidt Kirman who told us that it would help our child's grades move up and that he will have more confidence. We were told that Kumon is a method of learning that provides individualized, self-paced instruction in math and reading and that Kumon helps to develop a child’s ability to think, learn, and concentrate.  We signed up. Our experience was not anything she had promised. On the contrary it was bad. From day one our son hated the center and the owner who was also the tutor. He was just given worksheets and had no help when he needed it. His grades never went up at all. Whenever we checked with Ms. Schmidt Kirman we were told "that Kumon is a long term program." The improvement never came; our son kept getting frustrated. He even got to the point where he began to lose interest in everything at school and at home. The posters in the Kumon center make it look that children love Kumon. In our opinion Kumon math and reading is all a big illusion. We are a lower middle class family and it was really hard to pay the tuition but we made ends meet and paid the tuition for the sake of our son. After many months of continued hope that we would see him improve, we finally withdrew him from the program. If Ms. Schmidt Kirman done her job instead of just trying to fill up her seats, none of this would have happened. Kumon was the biggest most expensive mistake of our life and we would give anything to go back in time and not send our son there. We wouldn't recommend Kumon to our worst enemy.
