Racist comments made during my shopping experience-- My husband and I were shopping around to buy a new furniture set we visited the Stark street store a few weeks ago and were greeted by warm and friendly sales managers. We found a sofa and love seat set that we wanted to purchase we decided to go to the store today to take advantage of the sales they were offering once again we were greeted in a friendly manner and all was going well until a racist comment was made by one of the sales representatives. My husband happen to inquire about a recliner chair that was on sale at a reduced price when he asked if they had the recliner in a darker color to match the furniture set we were going to purchase the sales rep replied ""If we threw in a dark colored blanket with a bucket of chicken would you be interested in buying the recliner?"" Needless to say both my husband and I were STUNNED. When my husband angrily replied ""Hey that wasn't called for and you said that because I'm black didn't You?.... hold on it gets better.... the sales rep responded by saying Yes! \r \r We spoke to another African American sales rep informing him of what just occurred and even he was uncomfortable while another sales rep started laughing as he overheard my husband repeat the racist comment that had been said. We left the store immediately because I refuse to spend my money at a business that does not respect me as a person African American. PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS they need to be held responsible for the racist and oppressive comments and business practices.
