My Physical Therapy was from August to October 2013, for a Herniated Disc and arthritis in my lower back. In the beginning of this whole process, I started out with regular shooting back pain in my lower back due to a herniated disc. Any overexertion would only result in days of pain and sleepless nights. Kevin at Joint Effort Physical Therapy created a personalized exercise regime that allowed me to build the strength in my lower back as well as the rest of my body in order to support those back muscles. In the 2 months of physical therapy, I was able to bring my pain level down significantly, learn exercises and techniques that help in supporting my lower back so I don’t put more strain on it than needed. A week before my physical therapy was supposed to end, I was scheduled to move to a new house. I actually stated, “All of this work is going to go out the window when I do this move.” In using the techniques that I learned from Kevin, as well as the fact that the program he designed from me strengthened my core muscles, my move was successful and I recovered from my move with minimal pain, minus the typical soreness of muscles afterwards. Within a day after my move, my pain was gone and I was proven wrong. All of the work we had done did not go out the window; instead, it prepared my body for the stresses placed on it throughout the move. Throughout my therapy, Kevin went out of his way to make sure that I was able to obtain other medical treatments that would help me to relieve even more stress on my back and keep my pain level to a minimum. My condition will provide me with a lifetime gift of pain and aches, but with Kevin’s help, I now have a way to be able to minimize the number of major pain flare ups and possible further injury. While I’ll miss the massage therapy and the ultrasounds, I would have to say that my physical therapy was quite successful. Thanks Kevin!
