Businiess name:  Radical Car Care

Review content:
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!\r I took a project car into Radical, because Kurt is well known in the VW community. What I experienced was not what I expect from a professional mechanic. I dropped off my project car, and wanted to know what it would cost to get it up and running; just functional. What I got was a bill for a top-job engine rebuild for over $500. That's right, no estimate or communication, just a bill and a call saying, ""I've cranked the motor, and I'm hearing a knocking."" Keep in mind, you can buy a rebuilt engine for $500! Now, my car is still not running, he refuses to name a number for the remaining work, and he hasn't touched anything else on the vehicle. It was his lack of forecasting and estimating that really rubbed me the wrong way. I expect my mechanic to use his expert judgement and help me avoid a money-pit. I find estimation and communication mandatory skills for a mechanic, and Kurt refused to even try. I would not recommend this shop. He runs the place like his own personal hobby-shop, and not a reputable business. I'm sure he does excellent work, but when someone asks you to help get their project car off the ground and running, you don't spend more than the cost of a new engine on an unsuccessful rebuild. ------- The above review was on Yelp for almost 6 months. I just received a call from my father. Apparently Kurt read my review, and called my father's house, and THREATENED LEGAL ACTION IF I DIDN'T REMOVE MY POST. Are you kidding me? Any business that resorts to bullying tactics and legal action to handle their customer service issues needs to be avoided at all costs! I'm in disbelief with this guy, and shocked that he has been in business so long. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!
