After my car accident, I decided to get my car towed here since it was very close to where I was living and a relative had a previously good experience with A-1 several years ago. From the start, the owner- Brian, was manipulating and ""preyed"" on my situation. I was at A-1 less than an hour after being in a car accident, were the airbags went off and I was still upset. During this initial meeting, he had me sign paperwork but did not give me a copy (nor would he later provide me with copies when requested). He assured me that the car was an ""easy fix"" and could be ready within days. However, he started ordering parts and doing work on my car before it was assessed through my insurance company. After the assessment he told me he ""worked"" with the appraiser to ensure my car was a total loss so that I would receive more money from them. He would then fix the car and we would be all set. Brian failed to mention that once a far is a total loss, it changes the way it is insured and can make it difficult to sell. Brian never asked if I still had payments left (which I did) and when he found out, he began upset stating ""if he had known"" he would have never gone this route and what not. His story about my car was always changing it went from how he started work on it when he didn't and how he made a deal with my insurance company to raise the amount of money the car was totaled for so it would be in my benefit. \r \r After discussing the accident with our insurance company, it was agreed that the car needed to be taken out of the body shop, as he was becoming difficult to deal with. I attempted to get my belongings from the car one evening but after waiting 45+ minutes, his staff refused my request to see my car. The following day he told me ""that wasn't true"" and continued to lie about where he was and what was going on with my car. My insurance company had to pay him to release the car and is now bringing him to court in order to retrieve that money back. I do not recommend this auto shop to anyone due to their dishonesty and lack of professional behavior by all staff (especially the owner).
