My heater blower stopped working in the middle winter storm. In an hurry, I called A.J. Perri Inc that had an ad on our community new letter. A tech came, opened the control box and measured electricity. He told me that the motor was broken, and a replacement would cost $930. I was surprised, since we changed the motor a few years ago. I told the guy that last time we replaced the motor and the cage at about $500. The guy came back in 2 minutes, and would lower the price to $700. I let him go and remembered that last time the motor was replaced by Alpha Mechanical Inc. I found their phone, and scheduled a visit the next day. A technician came as scheduled, looked at the blower compartment. He suspected that the capacitor was bad. He found a replacement capacitor from his van. Sure enough, the blower started after he put in the new capacitor. It saved me hundreds of dollars.\r \r Alpha Mechanical Inc is professional and trust worthy. As for the other guy, took my $89 for a trip that gave a wrong diagnose, either because he was not proficient enough to see the real problem, or because replacing motor is more profitable. I am sure I would be charged for a new capacitor too, had I let him replace my motor.
