I would rather walk across country than ever rent a car from Avis again. I rented a car from Avis, Millington, TN for the week of 11/5/2012 thru 11/12/2012. First of all I was told I had to bring the car back at the exact same time I took it out or pay another day. No other car rental agency I have used has ever done that. As long as I bring the car back on the day I am supposed, I'm good. Second, when I did bring the car back I took it to the gas station and filled it until the pump kept shutting off and would not pump anymore. When the rental agent, Marilyn, looked at the guage it was a hair off full. I told her that I had just filled it. She said she was going to go and fill it some more or charge me $75.00 to fill the tank. I told her I had just come from the gas station across the street and it would not take another penny's worth of gas. She acted like she didn't believe me but didn't charge me after I refused to pay. Third, she also told me that I would have to take the car to the car wash and detail clean the inside or she would charge me $75.00, again! The car was not detail clean but was basically clean inside. There were a few bits of grass in the carpet that came off my feet when I got in. I told her I had spoken to Avis Home ofc and they said unless the car was especially dirty, mud, etc. That no charge should be added to detail the car after use. Marilyn argued with me, basically called me a liar and charged the $75.00 anyway. I call customer service after I got away from that hostile office. They refunded the money and said that detailing was not their policy. What a hassle! I have rented many cars over the years, both personally and even fleets and vans for the construction company I work for and I have never had such a BAD experience!!! I will never rent from Avis again for myself or my company and I will advise everyone I know never to go there. I also intend to spend several hours if necessary going to every review site I can find online and repeating my story for anyone considerind renting from Avis to read. The car was fine but the service was HORRIBLE!!!!
