Review content:
I recently moved to town and Dr. Abbie Courtemanche was highly recommended. I called the office and asked to be set up as a new patient. ""OK, but Dr. Courtemanche is booking out until April next year. Do you still want to be a patient?"" (It's July now, so she was saying it would take 9 months.) I said no thanks. It didn't seem right that it should be so hard, so I called back. I said that I don't need a physical, I just want to be set up as a new patient. She said, ""So you want to see the doctor without paying a copay or billing to insurance?"" I said no. I'm happy to pay a copay. I was transferred to someone who said that she has never heard of any doctor doing a free meet and greet at the office. I said that I just want to be set up as a new patient. She said, ""Why not just come in for a new patient exam?"" I told her that's what I've been trying to do. Apparently, she could see me in 2 weeks. I made the appointment and then the person told me that there's a list of medications that the doctor won't prescribe. She read me the list. I asked why she doesn't prescribe them. ""Well, just because she's a new doctor so she doesn't want to prescribe narcotics."" I asked, ""So it's because she's new? That implies a lack of confidence."" She said, ""You know what? I can't speak to her. If you still want to come in and see her you can ask her for yourself. But you will pay a copay and your insurance will be billed."" I can't believe how poorly I was treated when I was calling to become a new patient! I guess the search for a new primary care doc is still on because I will not be going to this practice. So rude!
