Usually ""East of Chicago"" locations are good, so we stopped in this place to have dinner. We should've known it wasn't going to be a good experience considering it was empty on a weekend evening. The food was disgusting and dry. It was basically no different then frozen pizza form the grocery. The 2 soup kettles were gross as well and looked like they hadn't been emptied or cleaned in days. The one had what appeared to be brocolli and cheese, although it was hard to tell since it was just a hard dried clump at the bottom of the kettle. There was a hot dog warmer in the back for guests. Not your typical pizza side dish. We stayed away though after seeing the condiment bottles were all dried up and crusted over. The plates are paper and the cups are styrofoam, and everything is totally self-serve. I suppose their absence of customers make it impossible to hire any help, or actual dinnerware. The atmosphere was very uninviting and cold, especially the handwritten paper sign on the wall warning guests that the police would be called on them if they dared to attempt sharing a plate, and they weren't joking either. An arrest threat to customers isn't exactly the most charming choice of decor if you ask me. Overall this place was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. If they didn't force you to pay before you even sit down and eat, we would've just turned right around and walked out. This place is not your typical "" East of Chicago"", and the owners obviously don't care enough to make it one. Sad.
Pros: The salad was the only thing that was decent.
Cons: Food was cheap and cold and the atmosphere was institution-like.
