This place was a TOTALl disappointment. We took two of our dogs there for an overnight this July- we checked it out in June and it seemed okay. If the same woman had been there for the consultation as was there when we dropped off for an overnight, I would have never booked petsitting there. \r \r When we arrived to drop them off the woman working was really strange; she was running around spraying cleaner on the supposedly clean room they had prepared for my dog. We had called ahead so they knew we were coming so it seemed odd. She wasn't wiping it up or anything, just spraying everywhere, and my dog is very allergic, which we had gone over and over about on my consultation. When I mentioned that to the crazy cleaning lady she seemed unfazed and said ""it kills germs""- hmmmmm most cleaners do but is the room clean or not? And allergies were my concern, not germs. Sure enough, our dog was irritated by the cleaner cloud and her skin was quite pink the next day.\r \r We had also requested that they take out breakables, such as the TV, in the room. When we arrived there was ceramic vase in our dogs' room, on a ledge by the door. Uh...hello? My dog doesn't need knickknacks, especially breakables. \r \r We had left individual portions of food, measured out and labeled. We had also brought a few extra meals just in case. When we arrived the next day they had fed all the food to out dogs, overfeeding one of them and wasting the food of the one who wasn't interested in eating in that stressful environment. Their inability to get feeding right for a short time, just 24 hours, even when it was prepacked and labeled, made me realize that they wouldn't be able to give medication or follow any specialized instructions.\r \r When we came to pick up our dogs, the woman couldn't find the check we had left a month previously for the deposit. They had no records: very disorganized and messy. It took almost an hour for her to figure it out, she couldn't contact the other worker who we had given check to because she said she ""couldn't find her number"" ...wow- what if there was an emergency? \r \r Upon talking with other dog lovers after our experience at Dogtopia, I have heard other terrible reviews. Since we chose them partly based on the two positive reviews here on this website, I felt we should put our experience out there for others to consider when searching for a kennel. I would never recommend them, and in fact would warn people, especially with dogs with special needs or medications, to avoid this business all together.
