Review content:
Lived in New Orleans all my life but never visited the St. Jude Shrine. After almost 40 years I finally did and do not regret it one bit. In fact, it left me with an ache in my heart, a yearning to go back again. \r Wasn't sure where exactly it was located but as I drove passed the side of the church, there was no mistake that I had made it to the right place. The statue of St. Jude that is placed next to the church is HUGE! Never seen a statue that big before!\r I walked in while Mass was going on, which wasn't planned that way, and made myself home in a pew in the back row. I looked around at the faces of the people that were there. There was an aura about them all. Visibly poor and humble, they each had a look all their own that silently looked to be crying to Our Lord for help. I was touched to see the faith that they wore on the outside.\r After Mass, I was told that I could purchase a candle from the gift shop, which was located right next door, and place it on the right or left side of the altar.\r I bought two candles and placed one on each side, making sure to spend the most of my prayer time inside of the small room especially made for St. Jude and his statue. There were so many candles in there I was blessed to find an opening to put mine! Knowing that I had only 37 minutes on my parking meter I tried to time myself perfectly, wanting to spend every second I could in asking for help from this great saint. \r I placed an offering in the box after I was done and thanked God over and over as I walked out for blessing me with such a wonderful experience. I made my way to the huge statue of St. Jude outside, said another prayer, then walked to my car. I made perfect timing as my meter showed only one minute left.\r I drove away still feeling the Spirit. No doubt in my mind that there are many miracles that happen in that old chapel. Anyone who is anyone has got to feel what I felt as I was in there.\r I highly recommend a visit there. You won't ever forget it. Pros: Holy place filled with the presence of God. Cons: parking a little tough
