Review content:
Star Liquors is located in the former K-mart shopping plaza on Route 17M in Monroe. Don't let its location fool you, though. This 10,000 square foot store has some special spirits.
To get an idea of its inventory, visit the store for its free wine tastings held on Friday and Saturday afternoons. They feature different wines and you can learn a great deal about wines at these tastings. Throughout the year they also host special theme parties which are usually well attended and fun.
The two store owners, both named Alan are knowledgeable and love to discuss wine, liquours and other spirits. I feel comfortable going into the store before dinner and asking for a suggestion--stop here before you go to a "bring your own" restaurant for the perfect selection.
The prices range from inexpensive to pricey. You can usually get the Wine Spectator' Magazine selections here. And the store is open seven days a week.
