Review content:
I stopped using this spa, though located just a few blocks away from home because of their policy to void gift certificates after one year. I lost the ability to use a $300.00 gift certificate. I believe they have changed this policy recently to devalue gift certificates after one year and charge a fee to ""reinstate"" them.
Sunday I gave them another try as my 19-year old daughter was advised by a doctor to have a gentle massage following an automobile accident to loosen sore muscles. She had a doctors orders to do so. I called Spa Sydell and explained the whole circumstance before booking a late afternoon appt. We arrived, signed in, explained the whole circumstance again and were taken upstairs. My daughter put her robe on and was met by the masseuse, who I also explained the situation to , and showed her the doctors orders. She put my daughter on the massage table and I left. I returned home to find my daughter back home 20 minutes later. The masseuse had refused to massage her, believing she knew better than the doctor, and offered her a facial--at full cost--instead! When she declined, they told her she had to leave. She returned home sore and angry, and at 5 pm, there was no time for her to go anywhere else as she had to return to college that night. They knew our circumstance before I ever made the appointment and they wasted my daughter's whole day, as she would have booked an appointment elsewhere if they had just told us from the start that they didn't want to massage someone who had been in an accident. I called the manager who offered no apology or anyway to make it up to us--wouldn't even get me a copy of the voided credit card charge, as I had prepaid $90.00! I have to go back there today to get a copy. It will be the last time I set foot in that spa.
Pros: Can't think of any
Cons: Rude treatment with no regard for the customer
