If you go to a birthday party on the northwest side of town and bite into one of the best cakes you've ever had, chances are, if you ask, the host will inform you it is an R.J. Goodies cake. R.J. Goodies is the standard by which all other birthday cakes (in northwest Houston) are measured. Of course you pay a premium to have one of these cakes grace the faces of the kids (and the floor) at your party and, in fact, it may be wasted on their untrained tastebuds. Adults, however will be sure to notice the fluffy, moist cake wrapped in a delicately flavored icing.
