Review content:
Booked a deluxe room at On The Avenue after my wedding on the Upper West Side. Showed up in wedding gown with groom in tow, so there could have been no doubt that this was our wedding night. The room was absolutely freezing, and when we called to complain, the desk was not apologetic and told us to OPEN THE WINDOWS to warm the place up. Except of course it was cold out, and the traffic would have been loud if we had opened the windows and we were only on the 4th floor so there would also have been a car exhaust issue. So we just turned up the heat and went looking for nice warm bathrobes. Except of course there was only one nice warm bathrobe. I dunno. One would expect a little more from a nice New York ""boutique"" hotel. One would expect more from Motel Six. Plus of course, professionalism aside, if the hotel staff had been human in any way they might have had the instinct to offer us a different room, or extra blankets, or anything to make the (I repeat) wedding night of a couple something other than an experience that roughly approximated winter camping with inadequate supplies. Fortunately we escaped their clutches the next day and had a honeymoon in a place warm enough to help us recover from the whole icy experience. The Excelsior or the Lucerne are other Upper West Side Hotels that might actually be worth checking out. This place is not.
Cons: poor service, uncomfortable room
