Review content:
I've bought 3 $650 -$900 vacuums from Desco - 2 were Meile. Shortly after each of their warranties ran out, they had problems. Although the motors worked fine, they weren’t suctioning. Each time, Desco told me I had to leave the machine overnight and then said the motors were shot & not worth fixing. After the second problem, the manager talked me into a Riccar 1700 and his 3-year warranty for a total of almost $900. Less than 6 months later, the extension started collapsing. Desco said the $80 part wasn’t covered under the warranty so I taped it. Then the turbo attachment stopped working and then housing on the extension popped off in pieces. On the phone Desco said the power for the turbo ran through the extension and might be why the turbo wasn't working. When I got to the store, it was empty. A guy was working in the repair area and another came to help me. He gave me a new extension. I showed him the turbo-he didn't see anything wrong with it .I asked him to please test it and the manger came running out and said, ""No! You have to leave it until tomorrow. We don't have a machine to test it."" I walked over to the demonstration model and said, ""This is my machine - it will only take 30 seconds and we can see if it's working."" He started screaming, ""We don't test in front of the customer instantly - we're too busy."" There was no one in the store and only 1 of the 3 guys were working. I offered to do it myself. He grabbed the hepa filter I was buying and said, ""If you don't want to leave it, we're not selling you any parts, get out of my store!"" I was packing up and the serviceman whispered to me, ""I would do it for you - it would only take a minute but he's my boss. Just press the reset button."" He let me pay for the extension tube that I had not yet removed from my bag. When I got home, the turbo worked fine with the new extension. The manager s behavior was rude and suspect-seems he just wants to charge labor time for diagnosing, needed or not. I believe that had I left the turbo, I would have come back today to hear that it was ""shot"" - as had happened with the two Meiles. The good side to this story: I saved a lot of money on the hepa filter-I found it on the Internet for 1/3 the price!
Cons: mean staff, unprofessional, don't stand behind products/war
