Our experience with TLC Kennel located in 5516 Cannon Drive, Monroe, NC was horrible and would not recommend this kennel to anyone. My dog spent only two nights in June 2011 and got so sick that I had to rush him to the emergency clinic. From what I recently read, commercial kennels should follow strict hygiene procedures, including thorough cleaning and disinfection of cages and food and water containers. In addition, kennels that are indoors, such as TLC Kennels , should have good ventilation with air turnover rate of at least 12 times an hour. Contrary to these guidelines, my impression of the facility is that it is basically a warehouse packed with crates , where dogs are confined to an area with limited fresh air. You can even smell the overwhelming foul odor from the office area. My opinion is that it is not a healthy environment and it is breeding ground for bacteria. I am very sorry I did not read a little more about these basic guidelines before boarding my dog as he ended up very sick. I also made a huge mistake by contacting the owner regarding a reimbursement for my veterinarian and boarding expenses. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. After what we went through, she insulted me and even falsely accused me of providing outdated shot records as you can see from her reply below: \r From: Julie \r Sent: Thu, Jul 7, 2011 9:31 am\r WHEN YOU DROPPED YOUR DOG OFF YOU PURPOSELY GAVE ME OUT DATED SHOT RECORDS,THEN YOU LEFT IN A HURRY SO I WOULDN'T CATCH THAT YOU GAVE ME OUTDATED RECORDS,YOU GET NO REFUND,I MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS THEIR PROPER SHOTS,JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE AN IRRESPONIBLE DOG OWNER DOESN'T MEAN MY OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE,I HAVE HAD THE SAME CUSTOMERS FOR YEARS,SO IAM NOT WORRIED ABOUT SOMEONE LIKE YOU,YOU COMPLAINED ABOUT OTHER KENNELS TOO SO THAT MUST WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO IN LIFE,BE A BUSY BODY,DON'T EVER SHOW UP ON THESE PREMISES,OR CALL MY KENNEL AGAIN OR I WILL HAVE YOU ARRESTED!SICKO'S LIKE TRY TO BE TROUBLE MAKERS!!!\r In spite of this nightmare, my dog finally recovered and is back home healthy and happy.\r
