OYSTER BAR ON KELL BOULEVARD - just had a really odd experience at the Oyster Bar on Kell Boulevard. tried to call in to go order. some guy answers, couldn't take order (how smart do you have to be to take a call in order?) puts me on hold. no one comes to phone. I decide to hang up and stop by and place to go order. I go to bar and waitress tries to take order. I order half order of fried shrimp, sweet potato fries, 2 tartar sauce, and want salad instead of cole slaw with 1000 island dressing on the side. she asks: ""so you want to substitute the cole slaw for the salad?"" I say ""No, I want to substitute salad for the cole slaw."" she gets this really puzzled look on her face and says: ""well, it's supposed to come with cole slaw (like it's written in stone somewhere!)"" I reply: ""Just give me salad INSTEAD OF cole slaw. she finally gets it. she takes my $20 bill and brings me back only folded money, NOT the $0.28 in coin that was also due to me. I say: ""Sorry but this change is not right!"" again, she looks puzzled. I say: ""where is the change, the coins?"" she responds: ""Oh, we always just round that off and keep the change."" I say: ""You can't do that; it's not legal!"" that draws the attention of the chief cook and bottle washer/manager (approximately 22 yrs of age). he comes over and asks what the problem is. I explain again stating you can't round off the tab and keep the change!"" he has the girl bring me back the change AND coins. this time she leaves off the $5 that was supposed to be part of my change. finally, second waitress brings food and slaps it on the counter. I open it up to check it...no tartar sauce, no salad dressing. she has to go get it and is not happy about it! my question is do they ROUND OFF the change and do this all the time without people noticing? do they do that because their people are too stupid to know how to count out change? or do they do it because they are too cheap to buy a new cash register to states on the receipt how much the change is supposed to be? anyway, you look at it, that's just plain WRONG! I won't be going back there again! GOOD GRIEF; is good service truly a thing of the past?
