Businiess name:  Ferdi's Creole Restaurant

Review content:
My favorite restaraunt is :\r \r Mother's Restaurant\r 401 Poydras St.\r New Orleans, LA 70130\r (504)523-9656\r \r an extremely popular restaurant in New Orleans. They are for all intents and purposes the bench mark for real Cajun food. I was attracted to Ferdi's because of the previous user's statement - ""Best Gumbo"". I beg to differ. I've had better Gumbo at Popeye's Chicken (a Franchise). The Gumbo that was served to both my wife and I was ruined. The cook obviously burned the Rue (flour and oil) and didn't bother to start over. The whole thing tasted burned. I think someone tried to blame the ""blackened chicken"" in it, but it was a burned rue. My red beans and rice was made with Ham and Bacon. (?) I've heard of Ham hocks or Hot links, but ham and bacon? And lastly the Jambalaya was OK. But just OK. What was missing were real Cajun seasoning. The gentle and subtle hints of Terragon. The boiled shrimp heads and shells in the Gumbo broth. \r \r If you've never had Cajun food; I suggest United flight #1404 to New Orleans. Don't start in Seaside. And if you have had great Cajun food; you'll be disappointed at Ferdi's. \r \r I'm really sorry. I had higher expectations. The service was friendly. The neighborhood was not the best (which doesn't bother me) and the cafe was small. But my only complaint was the food was not that good. Pros: The help was very friendly and courteous. Cons: The Cajun cooking was not that good.
