I always wanted to try one of the famous Italian restaurants on Arthur Ave but I live in Nj so it is not that close. Yesterday I took my family to the zoo in the Bronx and decided to have dinner at one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Read a few reviews and Emilia's was the 3rd runner up on my choices (choices one and two - unfortunately were closed on Sundays). So went in, atmosphere seems to be ok they had a couple of tables but was not crowded, nor was I expecting it since it was Sunday night. Bread and olives/tomatoes was very nice - served at the beginning and probably was the best of our food experience :(\r \r Asked waiter for a suggestion since it was my first time at that restaurant, ordered, food came out and then everything went downhill from there. I ordered a seafood dish and the mussels and clams smelled funny. our waiter never brought our drinks and had our food with water that was initially served; in fact, our waiter never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything after serving the food! M family also was not particularly impressed with their order. At the end we asked for the check and another waiter delivered it, I guess our waiter's shift ended. When I mentioned to the waiter about the drinks, the shellfish not being fresh he only said ok. No apologies, no sense of customer service whatsoever. I was not expecting to get away with anything except at least to acknowledge the fact that food quality and service was not that good.\r \r I probably went in with high expectations, I enjoy good Italian food and i love restaurants in Little Italy in Manhattan, but Emilia's on Arthur Ave just didn't do it for me. Will never go back to this place, stay away from it, I am sure there are plenty of option on the same street but for me is not worth the trip and the hassle.\r
