My roomie got one of those online offers for 3 tickets to try speed dating with this company...she got them through Bloomspot, which she is addicted to and I must admit it's hard to resist such tempting offers at those prices! We went to Xino last night in the mall down by the ocean - really easy parking and Xino is huge....such a long walk to the bar for a drink! We got there a little after 730pm, which I guess is the time you are supposed to arrive if you want the makeover first, I pretty much had my makeup on but the girl did touch up my lips and did something to my eyebrows which really made them look great. I was pleased with this glam boost and ready to date. It was a big crowd and lots of us milled around and chatted before the hosts got us all seated and we were able to sit near each other to compare notes, that was nice. Some people arrived late (probably not as good at parking as me) but we got going around 8:20pm and to be honest two hours flew by! We were served some appetizers, which were yummy...it's a dim sum house - we had to buy our own drinks, but food was taken care of. I was surprised at how casual everyone seemed - no one seemed nervous or awkward and I spoke to some guys who had done this a few times before so I guess they were feeling pretty comfortable with the whole process. It's tough to talk about yourself in just 5 or 6 minutes and get the kind of info you want out of the person you are speaking to. I was careful not to ask too many questions, so as to allow time to answer theirs too. All in all it was a good experience - I don't think I saw any marriage material ..but a good night out with the girls and who knows what my results will be. I am supposed to get those this evening - I did like a few of the guys, so hopefully that's reciprocated. My room mate told me that she got some Facebook alert about Citysearch and doing a review for a future discount - I haven't liked the company page for the speed dating so I didn't get it myself - but I am going to check it out and wanted to share my time. I wouldn't mind checking it out again - maybe to try a different venue next time.
