This is by no means a bad hotel. In fact, there are many aspects I enjoyed like the decent pool area, nice central courtyard with citrus trees (although the grass is pretty beat), the comfortable beds and nice bedding, the laundry service, the clean and fairly modern rooms and the central location. On the other hand, there are enough shortcoming they're tough to overlook. When I checked in they couldn't find my reservation because they misspelled my name. When my colleague checked in they had him booked for the wrong arrival date and he ended up in a smoking room. The high speed in the room is nice but wireless would be better and the high speed is a misnomer - it's slow! The fitness center is clean and has some cardio but is otherwise lacking. They have a nice HDTV in there but no HD channels and no ESPN! Cutting corners is the general theme here. The Desert Rose restaurant in the hotel is terrible to put it lightly. It's hard to screw up granola and eggs but they did it consistently. If you return to your hotel later at night you'll find the gates along one side are closed requiring a nice long drive around to get to your parking spot. Although the staff is nice enough they certainly do not go out of their way to be friendly or helpful. In Tucson it would seem that you've got your $300+/night places that shine and a big, empty gap before you're in the $180/night places that underwhelm. Depending on your needs you may find this place a great value. I'm going to step it up a notch next trip. Pros: good central location, clean rooms Cons: falls short on many of the details that make a stay enjoyable
