UPDATE (11/1/07): IT HAS BEEN ONE MONTH SINCE I WAS PROMISED A PARTIAL REFUND, AND THE OWNER NEVER SENT IT. ADD DISHONEST TO POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MOLDY. I ordered my wedding cake from this shop, and the owner was very friendly and I had no reservations about using her. My cake was delivered to the reception hall before I arrived. When I got there, the first thing that I noticed was that my cake topper (which had been left at the bakery with my name/wedding date written on the box) was nowhere to be found. AND, on the top layer of the cake, the middle strawberry was completely covered in mold. I called the bakery, and spoke with the owner who said she was coming back. Instead a high shool aged girl came. She brought the correct cake topper (although the box is missing) and replaced the strawberries on the top layer. Since the strawberries were dipped in chocolate, we had the reception hall pull them all off and pitch them after we cut the cake, because I wasn't going to risk the strawberries that appeared to be okay being moldy underneath the chocolate. When I called the bakery later, the owner argued with me that she ""knew the other strawberries didn't have mold on them."" I don't see how she could know that but let the cake be delivered with a mold covered strawberry sitting dead-center on the top layer. She is refunding my money for the strawberries, but was not the least bit friendly or apologetic about it. It was more of a ""well mistakes happen, what do you want me to do?"" type of conversation. Aside from the one bite during the cake cutting, I was too disgusted to even eat my own wedding cake.
