Upon consideration of a move to the Durham area, I wanted to make certain that there were quality restaurants for entertaining business clients and personal friends. I am moving from Coral Gables, a world-renowned mecca for fine dining. So as I set out on my restaurant search, I was prepared to be disappointed, but was hopeful. Well, what a delightful surprise - Metro 8! The service was superb and was only outdone by the quality and presentation of the food. Our server made suggestions, answered any and all questions, and was extraordinarily well versed when asked about wine selections. I ordered the tuna and relished every bite. It was perfectly seared to my specifications and the presentation was definitely Coral Gables quality or better. All of my very well-traveled guests - a college friend who is a food critic, a wine aficionado, a self-proclaimed ""great chef"" (although amateur in reality), and a gourmand - were equally delighted and decided to try ALL of the desserts. We were already well sated and thought that a ""taste"" would be more than enough. Not even a crumb was left on the plates! We have since recommended it to a dozen friends in the area whose tastes, professions and budgets are widely varied, and the reviews have all been the same ? a truly wonderful dining experience! We are in the process of scheduling a return trip to the area. Once a date certain is determined, my first call will be to Metro 8 for reservations. .
Pros: Everything from the decor, service, food preparation, wine selection right through to the dessers
