Review content:
The Silver Sage Steakhouse is a winner for both travelers and locals alike. Located in historic Fort Garland at 104 4th Street ( Rte 160), this restaurant is a breath of fresh air!\r
\r
The restaurant features USDA Choice steaks, the burgers are Angus ground beef and all are cut or hand-pattied to order.\r
\r
This family run business prides itself on fresh, home-made cooking, right down to the salad dressing! The owner/chef, Ray, makes fresh desserts, soups, and every item is cooked to order, ensuring fresh, hot delicious food. He also uses as much locally grown food and produce from within the San Luis Valley.\r
\r
We ordered the BBQ pork ribs and the Silver Sirloin steak dinner. Dinners offer a choice of soup or salad, baked potato, FF, or rice. We had the salads which were a great mix of greens, grape tomatoes, and baby carrots. The chunky home-made bleu cheese dressing was wonderful.\r
\r
The BBQ Ribs dinner was a full rack with excellent home-made BBQ sauce and a fluffy baked potato. I had the Silver Sirloin (10 oz cut) perfectly served medium rare and a baked potato.\r
\r
They feature local brewery beer, so my husband tried the Alamosa Amber and it was delicious. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. as our waitress checked serveral times throughout our meal as to our needs.\r
\r
2 dinners with 2 rounds of beer a piece, our check total was $32.00 which we thought was a steal for great food and great service.\r
\r
Sandwich menu prices start at $5.95 and dinner menu starts at $6.75 They also have a very unique SoCo Tiki Bar, so try a from-scratch Margarita or one of their other special house drinks.\r
\r
The Silver Sage has winter hours of Thurs - Sunday and expands to Tues through Sunday starting Memorial Day Weekend. \r
\r
Reservations are highly recommended during the summer season.\r
