Review content:
I remember shopping at Domus, in Los Gatos, with my Mom when I was in my teens - it always seemed like a treat to stop in. And, as an adult, I have always considered this place my guilty pleasure. When I got my fiirst apartment, I bought my first set of dishes here and, subsequently, all my kitchen gadgets. Its been my go-to place when I need a ""kitchen"" fix. I cannot leave this place without buying something. I LOVE this store. \r \r And, I love that an independent store has been able to go toe to toes with the big boys like Williams- Sonoma and Sur La Table and stay in business. That says a lot for the business acumen of the owner. \r \r So, given what I just said, I hope that what I am about to say, will be taken as constructive, if the owner should read this. \r \r This brings me to why I gave this store four stars - instead of five. \r \r In todays economy, and high unemployment, I would expect that it would be reltively easy to find appropriate staffing. And, perhaps the lapse of judgment in hiring the individual that I encountered on my last trip - was a family obligation. I that is the case - I truly symphathize. We have all been there. \r \r But be aware that all the good efforts that are put forth to show a business in the best possible light, can be lost when one of their staff conducts themselves unprofessionally. I have a history with this store - and I am not willing to write it off based upon one sour encounter. Other individuals may not be so generous. And in this economy, that could spell financial disaster. \r \r The raven haired, chubby, short, poorly attired, bearded woman in her upper 30s that I encountered was arrogant, surly AND rude. The trifecta for poor customer service. \r \r I interrupted her tirade with a customer/friend(?) while she vented how the owner is a ""b*tch"" and how bored she was, to ask a question. \r \r Yeah, I know, I should have known better. I was in a rush, and had already waited for what had seemed like an eternity for the conversation to cease - but it showed no signs of coming to a close - so I interrupted the tirade. The response brought to mind the ""Wrath of God"". \r \r OMG. I meekly backed off, only to hear myself denigrated to her customer/friend(?). Yeah, she did not even wait for me to be out of earshot - as she launched into another tirade about MY rudeness, and the difficulties in handling the customers in general. \r \r WOW! \r \r First, if she has a problem with her boss - that is best not discussed in an open enrironment. And, from what I observed - she should be kissing the owners feet for hiring her in the first place. \r \r Second, if she has a problem with the customers - why did she take the job? \r \r So, please do not hesitate to shop here - its a great store. But if you find the ""clerk/sales associate"" I described bearing down on you - duck and cover, or head for the nearest exit. Pros: Great selection at fair prices. Cons: Needs work on customer service!
