Review content:
I've been to just about every bar in Belmar, but this one is by far my favorite. Unlike most other Belmar bars, Paul's tavern attracts partrons just looking for a fun night out rather than punks and drunks just looking for a fight. Paul's is very large in size, therefore even though it draws in a nice crowd, it did not get claustrophobic. The best time to come to Paul's is between September and June, so that you can avoid the tourists. Currently, part of the bar is being renovated, but the other half including the outside deck is still open (yes, you can smoke on the deck). They have a digital jukebox in which you can download just about any song you can think of, however most regulars prefer playing southern rock and some country. On the weekends, bands perform here starting at around 11pm. Try and get there before 10 to avoid the cover charge. I almost forgot the best part......they often have specials in which pitchers are only $2 for most of the evening. Always a fun night at Paul's Tavern and great bar staff!
Pros: Atmosphere, Friendly Crowd and Bartenders, Cheap Drinks
Cons: A little far if you live in northern NJ, and the cover charge after 10pm
