Im returnn to Atl after completn work in Tampa. A company gave my info to DSR as I was looking for help updating my resume. I spoke with the owner Mr. Davis who put on a good spiel that DSR could improve the resume I already created but after talking with him for a bit I began to get a skeptical feeling. The resume pckge includes 2 cover letters & 2 resumes tailored to 2 different job/experience levels for $160. 1st thing that threw me off was that he wanted me to send him payment right then and there through money gram (not check or process through credit card) for the package. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable wiring money to someone for something I didn't have yet (Umm I think we all remember the western union scams). Then he said he would be able to email the new resume to me the next morning...$160 for two different resumes/cover letters in less than 10 hours??? This isn't a book report, its a tool to exemplify my career. Anyways after making it clear that I wasn't going to send him any money till I at least saw the resume he agreed to send it first. The next morning I received the resume from Theresa Smith (which apparently is the person who wrote the resume) and couldn't believe how horrible it looked. It went from a two-page resume to a cramped one page including a multitude of misspellings, punctuation errors and mis-written sentences. Same issue with the cover letter. So I hoped for better from the other resume and what did I find.....the SAME exact resume. The only thing they changed was the title of the position I was applying for. NOTE that these were suppose to be two resumes for two different job/experience levels. The percentages and numbers that I had in my original resume were reduced in the new resume. So I called Mr. Davis and asked about the formatting and the condensing of the resume. He explained that I could get no better resume from anywhere and began nagging me about sending him the money. I told him if they could re-look the format and the numbers I had and update it. I told him I would send my resume again just in case they were looking at the wrong thing. He said ok and again asked me about sending the money. He commenced to give me his name and business address (which is how I found out the name of the business) in which to wire the money to. I felt VERY uncomfortable with the situation at this point. I glanced at the resume again and began to realize that a majority of the bullets sounded very generic, so I decided to google some of them. What I found was the most disturbing part of all. The bullets had been copied and pasted from resumes online and several peoples LinkedIn profiles. As soon as I found this out I copied the links to an email and sent them off to Mr Davis. I tried calling several times but no answer. The next morning he called and I expressed my concern in regards to the ""ghetto fabulous"" style of creating my resume and he commenced to deny it. He kept saying that they do not do business in that manner....(why are you arguing with me about this when I have sent you the proof that you do). I asked what the name of his business was and he refused to tell me. He got snippy with me and said ""If you dont want the resume fine, but your not gonna get anywhere with that resume you sent me."" What a horrible experience, I urge anyone who is looking for someone to write their resume to definitely not go to Discount Resume Service in Sandy Springs but also to thoroughly research anyplace that you do choose to spend your money with. If anything ask friends first if they have used anyone or if you know anyone with experience writing a resume, maybe you can get them to help you put one together. We all know a good resume is the difference between getting a job or not and how much you could potentially be making. Oh and for all those who are wondering I decided to stick with the resume I wrote myself and within two weeks got scheduled for two interviews next week! Wish me luck!
