Review content:
We had our first child birth at Evergreen during the massive wind storm and power outages of December-2006. We received quality care while the entire hospital was on backup generators for two days. Their maternity store has a great selection, though it is a bit overpriced. The cafeteria is decent and I only ventured out for food once in three days. We also had a great experience at newborn care classes before the birth.\r
\r
I recommend them for your delivery with a few reservations. They are provided so you don't fall into the same traps we did.\r
\r
Be aware of the level of service from the night nurses- we had one that treated our child roughly and seemed incompetent. We requested a different nurse and never saw her again.\r
\r
Also, the hospital admits a lot of vultures who take advantage of the fears of new parents. There is fetal cord banking - an unproven technology. There is also a hearing test on your newborn, which is considered experimental and most insurances will NOT cover. They make you sign a release form making you liable if insurance denies it. \r
\r
At least three researchers visited us requesting everything from fetal cord to year-long participation in surveys. When you're taking care of your newborn, these visits are the last thing you need.\r
\r
Don't let these reservations turn you away from this excellent hospital. These are common pitfalls at other hospitals as well. As long as you say no when appropriate, you will not be disappointed.\r
