Review content:
Walking down Cedros, one is inundated with design store after design store. The mass number of Home Decor objects may be daunting, if not repetitive. Aja Rugs, however, is something of a treat. Located on the northern end of S. Cedros, Aja Rugs transports any passerby to a lush orient. With my first step into the store, I felt just like Aladdin, taking a magic carpet ride into a treasure chest filled with luxurious antique and new, silk and wool rugs, carpets, and textiles, as well as Asian, Indian, and Navajo art, home accessories, and decor. All handmade, each textile is impeccably detailed and individual. The entire showroom feels more like a plush interior of a Moroccan or Asian tea room. The rugs are a blend of wool and silk, all handmade and hand tufted. Each is unique in both their quality, and detail. Juxtaposing brilliant colors and intricate designs, the patterns seem to jump from the rugs. As I walked through Aja Rugs, rooms kept appearing with more and more rugs. From large area rugs, to smaller hallway runner rugs, there is something for everyone, every room, and any occasion. My personal favorite was a golden rug, which had been made to look antique. The golds and yellows seemed to change under the light as I moved across the showroom, revealing different layers and designs tufted into the rug.
