My son attended Kids Connection Preschool over 14 years ago and my daughter attended Kids Connection Elementary School K-3rd grade over 4 years ago. \r
One of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with is Doreen James, my daughter's former kindergarten teacher. She is a no nonsense, to the point professional. She taught my daughter to read and write, understand what she had read, write about what she had read, present what she had read and helped to instill in my daughter a love of reading. I often catch my daughter reading under her sheets a night with a flashlight. To this day my daughter rarely needs help with the MASSIVE amounts of homework given to her because the Kids Connection teachers actually taught their students the meaning of what it is to study and how to go about doing it ON THEIR OWN. My daughter has been in the public school system for over 4 years now. She is an honor student in part because Kids Connection's teaching staff gave her the foundation to be successful in ANY school environment.\r
The school's physical environment needed to be revamped, but allocation of funds coming into the school were used inappropriately by the former owners. Teachers going without their paychecks is absolutely unacceptable! I agree, a little paint, cleaning, trees, etc. would have been nice, but that does not make the teachers any better than they already were. \r
I am considering enrolling my youngest in kindergarten at Kids Connection this fall. You should do what's best for your child and your family. Not every program is the right fit for every child and family. Happy schooling to all.
